Surveys

The General Survey (2016) provides an overview of what historical societies do and the contribution of members and volunteers.

The Collections Survey (2017) looks into what societies have in their collection (both physical and digital) and how collections are documented, preserved and accessed.

Survey 2000, undertaken 16 years prior to the General Survey (2016) and the Collections Survey (2017), elicited a comparable number of responses from historical societies. Many of the questions in 2016/17 were based on similar questions in 2000, revealing changes occurring over the intervening period.
